Summer 2008 Inventory
Used Instruments

Where did all the used instruments go?
All over the world, the cupboards are bare, and good used instruments have become difficult to find.  This is especially noticeable in the United States, where the pummeling of the U.S. dollar against the Euro and the British pound over the past few years (the dollar has dropped about 40%) has meant sharp price increases in new instrument prices.  With the Euro and the British pound making all time highs against the dollar; it simply takes more dollars to pay an invoice in these currencies. Some of our used instruments have waiting lists before they even arrive. While instruments come and go all the time, these days they seem to fly out the door. If you are looking for something that isn’t on our list, a helpful suggestion might be to call, let us know what you are looking for, and then we can contact you when something arrives that might be just the right thing. As new instrument prices continue to increase—and that’s just what we think will happen—finding a good used instrument will continue to be a challenge.

Oboes

  • Lorée Royal model oboe #QX55. Less than a year old with a brand new top joint. In absolutely great shape at a wonderful price for an instrument of this quality. Lorée case & case cover. A rare find.

  • Lorée AK model oboe #JU46.  Hailing from 1991, this oboe was chosen out of hundreds and hundreds of oboes that went through RDG, Inc. by a very fine professional player who worked there. No cracks, in beautiful condition (she owned two). Another winner.

  • Rigoutat Expression #351BA (2001).  No cracks, owned by someone who had two Rigoutat oboes. New GEWA case.

  • Rigoutat RIEC oboes:
    1) Rigoutat RIEC oboe #1489 (2005)
    2) Rigoutat RIEC oboe #855RE (2003)

    3) Rigoutat RIEC oboes #409RB (1998)

All three are uncracked, in beautiful condition, with GEWA cases.

  • Sierra oboe #DO8/2475 (1992)  This oboe was made by Mark Chudnow, and was the precursor of his MCW oboes. Professional system, no cracks, new case.

Are you thinking of selling a used instrument?
We are always looking for used instruments to sell. We do all the repairs, so an instrument doesn’t have to be in perfect shape upon arrival. It does, however, have to be of sufficient quality that it will be a fine and desirable instrument upon completion of all necessary repairs.
